Our Hut Designs
Every single hut we create is based upon our core designs, however each one has a varying level of customisation to ensure it meets the individual clients brief. We believe there will never be a perfect ‘off the shelf design’ as the hut must match the intended use by the client
We truly believe that taking the time to design what we consider to be one of the strongest chassis on the market allows us to stretch the boundaries. With our builds ranging from 16′ x 8′ to a mammoth 30′ x 10′ they are incredibly heavy structures so they need a super sturdy chassis to base them on. With our own design and fabricated in the adjoining building we can create completely bespoke sizes to suit
Every element of our huts are designed and handcrafted by our own team on site allowing us to design and build the hut of your dreams. Our team love nothing more than seeing a vision become a reality and always go the extra mile to ensure every detail is covered, with as many revisions to designs as is needed to ensure we deliver a hut which not only meets your expectations but exceeds them.

What is a Shepherd Hut?
Traditionally used by shepherds as far back as the 16th century to offer a mobile shelter for them to stay in whilst tending to their flocks. Modern day Shepherds Huts are a far cry from the basic interior, however still retain the curved roof typically clad in corrugated metal.
How much does a Shepherd Hut cost?
This is like how long is a piece of string! Price will always depend upon the size, finish and options selected but self build options start at around £10,500 ranging up to £50,000+. The best bet is to drop us a line and let us help you through the process and we will always try to work with you to bring your dream to life and in on budget.
How big is a Shepherd Hut?
Shepherd Huts can come in all shapes and sizes and having our own fabrication team allows us to create chassis to match your individual requirements. Typically we see the market offering 7’6″ or 8′ wide with starting lengths from 16. For the ultimate in luxury we would always look at 20′ to 30′ length.
Do I need planning permission for my Shepherd Hut?
There is no hard and fast answer on this unfortunately, as this may vary by local authority, intended use, size & position, etc… We will always look to assist you with any questions, drawings, etc… Don’t be fooled by the rumour that “it’s on wheels so doesn’t require planning” whilst this may be true in some cases it’s not always a given.
Can I have a toilet in my Shepherd Hut?
Of course, we see most customers opting for an en-suite facility in their hut. We would always recommend a fully flushing toilet which can be connected to your on site utilities. If this is not an option for your site then we can always offer off-grid alternatives.
Can I move my Shepherd Hut around?
They are on wheels so can always be moved, however it is very unlikely that you would want to move your hut, especially if you’ve designed a hut which is connected to your utilities. If you are planning to move your hut around your land then this needs to be considered at the design stage.
What site preparation is required?
Prior to delivery you will need to decide upon the location for your hut. If you’ve decided to have the hut connected to your utilities then these will need to be laid to the location. We would always recommend a suitable hard standing for the wheels as a minimum but most clients choose a full pad which can then be landscaped after delivery. As each site is unique we would always recommend a site visit by one of our team prior to delivery to scope out an access plan and also to check the foundation and services.
Can I use my Shepherd Hut all year round?
All modern Shepherd Huts are built to be used all year round. We fully insulate floors, walls and roofs to keep you cosy in the winter. A popular option (and in our opinion a must have for appearance) is a wood burner to keep add heat & atmosphere on a dark wintery evening.
Can I choose the exterior of my hut?
Absolutely, we offer a range of materials to choose from right from the roof to the wheels, everything is customisable to match your individual preferences. There are literally thousands of options available to you.
How do I decide on a layout for my Shepherd Hut?
We have years of experience in designing spaces to be best utilised. Ultimately you need to decide upon the intended purpose of your hut. Once you know what you want to use it for this will help you decide on the essentials required within your hut and from this point we can then advise on potential layouts which will work best for your requirements. We will work with you to ensure you are 100% happen with the layout before a single component is made.
